Three Superfoods worth buying!

Over the past five years there has been a lot of fuss around the so-called “super foods”.

Speculating with their usefulness, they are being sold at insanely high prices.

Like most people, involved and caring for their health, we have tried most of these products, but we have sorted out some, who have actually proved their usefulness and beneficial effect.

In today’s post would like to introduce to you the three “super foods” that have proven their good influence!

Maca root

Maca is a plant that is grown and consumed by South Americans for thousands of years.

It’s beneficial ingredients are found in the root, which is rich in carbohydrates and protein.

It’s regular consumption improves the immunity and brain functions,

and has some positive effects on the female reproductive system.

It is also used to increase energy and the faster physical and mental recovery.

The dried maca root is rich in alkaloids and essential minerals (calcium, magnesium, iron).

In Bulgaria it comes in tablets, capsules or powder.

Normally the human body absorbs easily the powdered maca root, so we recommend this type of consumption.

It can be added to juices, muesli, yoghurt, fruit salads etc.

It is better to start with half a teaspoon a day and gradually increase to one.

Regular intake of maca:

in regular consumption there is a recommended week-off every month!

Chia seeds

It is also known as the  “running food” .

It is often used as a high-energy food, providing durability.

A unique quality of the Chia seeds is the fat content- it is the richest plant source of omega-3 essential oils.

Chia seeds have five times more calcium than milk, three times more iron than spinach, two times more potassium than bananas, two times more protein than other grains and 2 times more antioxidants than blueberries.

Recommended intake of chia is no more than2 tablespoons per day digested or soaked (soaked seeds take a gelatinous form).

The intake  of Chia that is not digested or soaked is not recommended because it can irritate the stomach.

Spirulina are types of floating blue green algae-one of the oldest forms of life on Earth.

The dried spirulina powder has amazing food qualities.

It’s main ingredient is protein: 60-70%. Spirulina contains all nine essential amino acids that the body cannot synthesize itself and must acquire food.

Spirulina is a superfood. We recommend 1-3 teaspoon during or after a meal.

Best at breakfast, as smoothie or with freshly squeezed citrus juice. You can take spirulina once or twice a day.

Some prefer to take it one hour before a meal to satisfy their appetite.

If you sleep lightly, avoid taking spirulina in the evenings.

These are our fave superfoods.

We have used them in the past and continue to consume them with pleasure and measure.

Still, try to not overdo, and always keep in mind that it is good to take pauses in the  consumption of super foods, sometimes this can even increase their impact.
